Human civilisation has evolved a great deal over time. We are living now at a time where more people are living in urban areas than ever before. It is projected that by 2050, more than 70% of the world's population will be living in cities. Cities already consume over 80% of the world's material and energy resources and account for 75% of carbon emissions. this is despite covering only 3% of the earth's surface and it makes them highly susceptible to disasters such as climate change disasters like the recent Cyclone Idai and the Covid-19 pandemic.

At Vhadau Group we seek through our various branches to work towards addressing questions that arise from this development such as The Energy Question, carbon emissions and climate change, food security and sustainable food production,  and Sustainable resource exploration, extraction and processing. The depletion of resources is a major factor in contemporary development and sustainability particularly in the areas of energy, food security, water and sanitation, transport and housing and mineral resource extraction is paramount.
